Dear Loyola Blakefield Community,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 edition of Workshop(s)! I had the honor of being selected by my peers as Co-Editor-in-Chief, giving me the responsibility to make sure that this year’s issue would rise to occasion, and it certainly has. This year's Creative Writing Honors class had its challenges this year, with being at home and having only weeks to put this magazine together, but I am pleased to say that hard work pays off.

The Loyola Blakefield community has once again shown their talents through writing and other forms of media, and it never fails to amaze me. We were so glad to have received as many submissions as we did, with many individuals contributing many works, ranging from colorful photographs to beautiful poems and essays. I would like to highlight one individual: Jeremy Hannon; for his photo "Dodge," which was selected as this year’s cover photo.

There are many people to whom I would like to thank for making this possible. Firstly, Mr. Flanigan has been an outstanding source of inspiration and guidance. He has provided my classmates and I with guidance through this project and all others throughout the year. Next, I would like to thank Mr. Ziegler and the members of the Digital Media and Photography classes for their wonderful work, these visual works are always a great addition to the magazine. I would like to thank my classmates for the effort they have put forward for the creation of this website and their works over the last year. I am blessed to be surrounded by such talented people.

Particularly, I would like to thank my fellow Editor-in-Chief, Ethan Delp for being my partner in crime and being a great person to bounce ideas off of.

     Enjoy,

Dear Loyola Blakefield Community,

The Creative Writing Honors class is proud to present this year’s edition of the Literary Magazine. Fourteen hard-working Dons, over the course of this school year, have compiled a collection of their best pieces, and are absolutely thrilled to have these works published. In addition to this, the entire school community has pitched in and has submitted their own pieces. Therefore, this magazine was a group effort, and we thank everyone for their support and participation.

However, the Creative Writing Honors students deserve a special round of applause. Despite the hardships that COVID-19 would present (and did present), this class was adamant about carrying on the tradition and publishing a 2020 Literary Magazine. Going into the magazine’s production, everyone knew that there would be added difficulties, but it did not matter. Only having class twice a week and being unable to work collectively in a classroom setting was a challenge, but every Creative Writing Honors student was prepared to overcome it. Therefore, the willpower and determination of this truly exceptional group should be appreciated and celebrated.

Still, the school community has played another huge role in the assembly of this literary collection. The magazine would be nothing more than an English class’s collective final project without the submissions of those in every corner of the Loyola Blakefield family. We received an outstanding amount of outside works and are thankful for all those that chose to chip in. In addition to this, those assisting in the logistics of this process should also know that we appreciate you. Specifically, thank you Mr. Flanigan for your oversight and help on every aspect of magazine production.

On a personal note, I would also like to thank my fellow Editor-in-Chief, Ben Ostrowski, for his leadership and initiative. Without him, this magazine would not be in the beautiful state it is and would not be available digitally either.

     Enjoy,
